PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it. That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter.

I had listened to a few tracks, liked what I heard, and then put it in my wishlist where it was soon buried. That is, until I saw them live and they blew my socks off. Really awesome live set. I was very impressed. Now I got this album in a regular rotation. Hell yeah, Aeviterne.

Something twisted about the way this band just revels in the pit of hate and misery. The vocals are gnarled and hateful. Some of my favorite in a good while. The band shifts between death and doom but never sells out in one direction to keep you hooked. Some songs leave you feeling the band lost its way to a resolution ("Enthronos Wormwomb" and "Choirs of None"). But, others still the landing in a beautifully wicked way ("Neerv" and "Verbalist Aphonee"). Way more good than bad.
